Warm Weather Weddings: 3 Ways to Beat the Heat

With the promise of a cloudless day, sun kissing your skin and just the slightest breeze, a warm weather wedding sounds like an absolute dream. At Lake Tahoe, warmer months are ideal times to get married with temperatures ranging from the 60s to 80s with little humidity. While there are tons of benefits to get married during the spring or summer in the Sierra Nevada, there are a few details to keep in mind to ensure your wedding is as flawless as possible.

#1 Protect Yourself!
Getting married in the Sierra means you’re just that much closer to the sun. At 7,600 elevation, the Ridge Tahoe is perfectly positioned above Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley. However, with that elevation comes a greater chance of a sunburn. While temperatures may feel cool with a breeze at times, the sun is much hotter at elevation and you may find yourself a bit red at the end of the day. Fortunately, there’s an easy fix: sunscreen! Apply a sunscreen that does not provide a white cast in photos.

If you’d like to stay out of the sun altogether, the Ridge Tahoe also has an indoor ceremony site available. The Stagecoach View Room still affords you amazing views without the worry of a burn.

#2 Stay Refreshed
Consider creating a signature cocktail for a spring or summer wedding. Not only will this be refreshing if the wedding is held outside, but it will also show off the couple’s personalities. Fresh lemonade or even popsicles are a welcome sight during a warm weather wedding. Additionally, altitude can dehydrate individuals who are unaccustomed to the elevation so be sure to have plenty of non-alcoholic fluids on hand! Some Ridge Tahoe wedding packages include unlimited coffee, tea, and soda or lemonade and punch stations.

Of course, if you opt to have your wedding at our beachfront ceremony site at Round Hill Pines or Lakeside Beach, you can always refresh yourself with a dip in the lake!

#3 Create Functional Favors
If your wedding is set outside, such as in the Grand View Garden or the Elevation Deck 7500 at the Ridge, it tends to get warm in the sun. Make your wedding favors functional and fun by handing out sunglasses or fans branded with your wedding hashtag. Not only will these help your guests stay cool, they’ll also look cool and provide plenty of great photo opportunities.
