Yes, You Can Ski

Lake Tahoe ski resorts have received over 500″ of snow this season, and most are extending their closing dates into May (at least!). Heavenly Resort will be open daily through April, and on weekends in May through Memorial Day. This means skiers and snowboarders still have access to miles of terrain, with sunny skies and warmer temperatures.
The Ridge Resorts provides guests with complimentary ski storage lockers, and if you’d prefer to rent gear, The Resort Sports Ski Shop offers complete packages featuring brands such as Rossignol, Nordica, K2, Salomon, and Atomic. The Sports Ski Shop is conveniently located at The Ridge Tahoe in the Resort Center Building, and also has helmets, pants and jackets available for rental.
If you’re looking for a more low-key snow experience, you can’t go wrong with building a snowman — and there’s sure to be snow close to your suite at The Ridge. If you’d like to explore, try sledding or snowshoeing. Both get you outside and enjoying the conditions without the commitment of the ski slopes. Didn’t bring your winter clothes? The Ridge has you covered! Guests can rent snowshoes, pants, and jackets from The Resort Sports Ski Shop, and hats and gloves are available for purchase in the Clubhouse Marketplace.
Snowmobiling is a popular option for exploring outside. Rev your engine while also learning more about Lake Tahoe and its surroundings. For guided tours with views of the lake, join one of the daily groups with Zephyr Cove Resorts. If you’re interested in more of a backcountry experience, check out Lake Tahoe Adventures and their tours of beautiful Hope Valley, south of South Lake Tahoe.
Around town, you’ll be able to ice skate at Heavenly Village, or take advantage of late-season sales as you browse the Village Shops. Restaurants will be less crowded this time of year, so it will be easier to get a table at your favorite eateries and lounges, too.
Take a Tour
If sightseeing is on your must-do list — and it should be! — as the temperature warms up, the roads are generally clear enough for a drive around the lake. Visit Cave Rock and Emerald Bay on the South Shore, and make your way around to explore the West Shore, Tahoe City, and Truckee.
For a different perspective, take a cruise on the historic M.S. Dixie II paddlewheeler, or view Lake Tahoe from above from a helicopter or hot air balloon. Our concierge can help you make these reservations, and provide tips on what to look for and where to go for the best Tahoe experience.
Ready to Switch Gears
Had enough snow, and ready to welcome warmer days and activities? Carson Valley is a short drive from The Ridge Resorts, and with its lower elevation, provides access to golf, hiking, road biking, and mountain biking.
Carson Valley is home to three distinct golf courses, each with its own style and views of the surrounding mountains and valley. The Ridge Tahoe provides complimentary golf lockers for our guests. In addition, see the Concierge Desk and save 15% at Genoa Lakes Golf Courses.
