Ridge Tahoe golf warm-up gives way to spectacular views at nearby courses
The Ridge Tahoe guests who love golf, have plenty of opportunities to warm up their game at the resort and then take in full rounds at any number of Tahoe South area golf courses.
Woods and irons are encouraged at the Ridge Tahoe’s outdoor driving range. Meshed nets allow golfers to cut loose and give it all they’ve got. This full swing range gives golfers the chance to hone their technique and find that precious sweet spot.
Once the muscles are loosened, golfers can head over to the on-site miniature golf course/putting greens. Gently sloped greens give way to numerous breaks, giving putters ample opportunities to give their short game the finishing touches they need.
Golfer’s looking for the ultimate Lake Tahoe backdrops, have four courses to choose from at South Shore: the famed Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course, home of the 24th American Century Championship, July 16-21; Lake Tahoe Golf Course, a spectacular mountain meadow course with plenty of challenge and superb views; Tahoe Paradise Golf Course, an executive course in nearby Meyers known for its towering pine trees; and Bijou Municipal Golf Course, ideal for beginners and families with a 9-hole, par 33 layout.
On the Carson Valley side there are three distinct golf courses close to the Ridge Tahoe, each with rolling fairways, plenty of water holes, and challenging dog legs. Co-designed by PGA Champion Peter Jacobsen and John Harbottle III, the Lakes Course at Genoa Lakes is a links-style course where rolling fairways meet head-on with eastern slopes. The Resort Course at Genoa Lakes offers championship golf with 300 feet of elevation changes and more than 100 bunkers all carved into the impressive Carson Valley. The Carson Valley Golf Course in nearby Gardnerville offers players the opportunity to shoot around large cottonwood trees and over the meandering Carson River.
