Celebrate Mom at the Ridge Tahoe
If it were up to us, every day would be Mother’s Day, complete with leisurely brunches, fresh flowers and sunshiny days with family and friends. Unfortunately, every day can’t be Mother’s Day so when the day rolls around every year, we always work extra hard to ensure the holiday is a very special and memorable time for all mothers! This year will be no different at the Ridge Tahoe with a Mother’s Day Champagne Brunch at the Hungry Bear Restaurant.
The brunch on Mother’s Day, May 14, will include a feast for the eyes and the taste buds with multiple indulgent dishes. A saccharine first course starts the meal with sweet ricotta and mascarpone stuffed crepes served with spring berry compote. The second course includes a choice of one of the following: herb crusted Alaskan halibut with sweet potato and wild mushroom hash, spring peas and citrus jus; crab cake eggs benedict with cottage potatoes and Old Bay spiced hollandaise; eight-ounce New York steak and eggs with cottage potatoes; huevos rancheros with refried beans, eggs, shrimp, roasted peppers and corn tortillas. Finish the same way you started with some sweet treats at Heather’s heavenly dessert buffet.
The brunch is $40 per person, 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Mother’s Day.
There are also several other special Mother’s Day activities occurring throughout the weekend. If you are staying at the Ridge Tahoe, you’ll have quick and easy access to these events.

Mother’s Day weekend rides on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad take off from Carson City, May 13-14. This 16-mile round trip ride on diesel train engines will transport riders to the historic town of Virginia City where shopping, dining, and sights abound. Mothers will delight in this unhurried ride through the rolling hills of the storied Comstock Lode right-of-way with the possibility of wild mustang sightings. The Carson City depot is about a 45-minute ride from the Ridge Tahoe.
Other options in town include the Mother’s Day Dinner Show at the Loft Theatre that includes a meal and magic on May 14. Magic Fusion starts at 7:30 p.m. and moms are free with the purchase of one adult ticket. If mom prefers a laugh, Nick Swardson is back at MontBleu on May 13 and Todrick Hall at Harrah’s on May 15.

If the kids forgot to make something for mom, they have a last-minute opportunity at the History Club at the History Museum Complex in South Lake Tahoe. The Saturday before Mother’s Day, kids will be able to play games from the past and even create a Mother’s Day gift. Entry is $20 per child and more information is available online.
Regardless of your preferred Mother’s Day plans, we hope you have a wonderful holiday!
