Packing for a trip can be stressful, especially if you’ve never visited the area before and you’re unfamiliar with the destination’s climate. Tahoe’s weather forecast is typically full of sunshine, which means that the weather is pleasant during the day with lower temperatures during the evening. Depending on the season you’re visiting, Tahoe can be extremely snowy, temperate, breezy or just right.

While your packing needs will change in the winter (we’re talking snow boots, parkas and more), we’ve compiled a list of must-have items for your trip to the Ridge Tahoe during the autumn season.

Hiking Shoes or Boots
Lake Tahoe is a year-round recreation playground and hiking is a very popular activity for those in the Sierra Nevada region. With hundreds of hikes, it’s impossible to become bored with the possibilities. Plus, hiking shoes are great options for exploring in general, as many of the outdoor sights in the fall make use of trails.

Jacket
Daytime temps may reach the 60s and 70s during autumn, but nighttime temperatures may give you a chill! Once the sun goes down, temperatures can dip into the 20s and 30s, which means you’ll need to pack a jacket that will keep you warm if you’re venturing outside during the evening hours for sunset or for area entertainment.

Swimsuit
Okay, okay, so it might be a little chilly, but you’ll want to pack a swimsuit for a brave dip in the lake or to take advantage of one of the many hot tubs on property at the Ridge Tahoe. What sounds better after a strenuous hike than a soak in a rooftop tub? We’re guessing nothing!

Sunscreen
Regardless if there are clouds in the sky, UV rays are still very present, especially at high altitudes. We recommend applying sunscreen to any exposed skin before exploring Lake Tahoe. You’ll be surprised by how warm the sun can feel and how quickly skin can burn!

Hat
Regardless if it’s snowing or pure sunshine, a hat is always a good bet in Lake Tahoe. Like our sunscreen suggestion, a hat can help protect you from sun rays, while also offering a stylish addition to your outfit. To fit in with the locals, we recommend a trucker hat or a beanie!

Reusable Water Bottle
High elevations can dry you out and it’s recommended that those unaccustomed to Tahoe’s elevation drink plenty of fluids to avoid altitude sickness. What better way to stay hydrated and environmentally conscious with a reusable water bottle? Tahoe tap is some of the purest tap water in the country so you’ll quench your thirst with Big Blue itself.

If you’ve forgotten an item, you’ll find an affordable replacement at the Ridge Marketplace.
