The Ridge Tahoe is situated at 7,500′ and privy to sweeping views.

Where are you located?
The Ridge Tahoe is located in Stateline, Nev., part of the Tahoe South area that spans from Zephyr Cove in Nevada to Emerald Bay in California. The resort is situated at 7,500’ and privy to sweeping views of Lake Tahoe, as well as Carson Valley. It’s conveniently located to ensure easy travel to Carson Valley and to the Stateline/Tahoe South area where gaming and activities abound.

What are my transportation options?

My stomach is growling. Where can I eat?
A day of traveling can work up an appetite. The Ridge Tahoe offers three options for the hungry guest: Hungry Bear Restaurant, Bear Trap Lounge and the Ridge Club Bistro.

The Hungry Bear offers a more formal, sit-down dining experience with steaks, surf and turf, and daily fish specials. The Ridge Club Bistro has a less formal approach but is no less delicious with options like pasta, hot sandwiches, and options for kids. The Bear Trap Lounge is the place to be for happy hour specials for drinks and appetizers. It’s also the best place to catch a football game!

How close is the resort to skiing?
The Ridge Tahoe is located within a short ride to Stagecoach Lodge at Heavenly Mountain Resort. The lodge can be easily accessed via the Hilltrac Skier Express for the ultimate in convenience. Guests that want to explore all the different resorts in the Lake Tahoe Basin are recommended to rent a car to experience resorts like Northstar, Homewood, Mt. Rose, Squaw Valley and others. Shuttles are available to Kirkwood Mountain Resort and Sierra-at-Tahoe. Check individual resort websites for availability and schedules.

Before heading to one of the many mountains, suit up at the Resort Sports Ski & Snowboard Shop. With professional services like tuning and waxing, plus options to purchase ski accessories and rent equipment, the shop will have guests looking like pros.

Drive Safe in Tahoe

Fresh snow promises endless fun on the mountain but it can also cause travel issues for those unaccustomed with driving in the snow. To ensure a safe arrival to The Ridge Tahoe, heed our following recommendations to successfully navigate treks over mountain passes.

A beautiful winter landscape should be approached with caution when driving. Courtesy: Heavenly Mountain Resort

Before You Go:

  • Check road conditions before leaving for a destination. The latest road conditions are available for California with Caltrans online and for Nevada on the Nevada Department of Transportation Up to date information is also available at (800) 427-7623 for California and Western Nevada (Lake Tahoe/Reno Area).
  • Plan for additional travel time. Traffic moves slower during bad weather.
  • Prepare your car by stocking it with emergency materials for a winter trip: blanket, booster cables, bottled water and non-perishable foods, first aid kit, maps, shovels, flares, spare tire, a bag of sand (aids in traction), extra windshield fluid, snowbrush/scraper, and old boots, as well as clothes.
  • Carry chains even if the vehicle has 4-wheel drive.
  • The gas tank should always be above halfway full when traveling in winter conditions. There is a possibility that traffic may be backed up due to weather conditions or accidents. A nearly full tank ensures the vehicle will not run out of gas while waiting.

On Your Way:

  • Drive slowly and avoid braking. Braking on ice and on slick roads can cause brakes to lock, thus causing the car to drift out of the driver’s control. If the car does begin to slide, the best recommendation is to let off of the brakes. Turn the wheels in the same direction the rear of the car is sliding.
  • Keep the distance between cars in case of sliding or sudden stops.
  • Always put on chains in designated areas.
  • Exercise caution at intersections and take time crossing streets, as well taking turns.
  • If a drive feels uncomfortable due to the current weather conditions, take a break. When traveling from the Bay Area, El Dorado and Amador Counties offer a variety of wineries, restaurants and sites that

In addition to a resort shuttle that may be requested by contacting the concierge at 6200, bus transportation is available for guests that would prefer to go car free when on vacation. The BlueGo Casino Shuttle is complimentary and drops off at the Heavenly Villages and Casino Corridor. Find the full schedule on page four of The Ridge Guide.

Tips for Your Next Ridge Tahoe Ski Trip

Visitors may notice that everything moves slower in Lake Tahoe. Locals refer to this slowdown as “Tahoe time” and though it offers an opportunity for some quality R&R, sometimes a visit is all about the fresh powder. Read on to find out how The Ridge Tahoe can help guests make the most out of their ski trip to the Sierra Nevada.

Go Central
Choosing accommodations is the first step to success in Tahoe and being centrally located is key. The Ridge Tahoe is located at the top of Kingsbury, which is only a short drive to casinos, Heavenly Mountain Resort and the Tahoe Rim Trail, which is a very popular trail that loops around the entirety of the lake. In minutes visitors are carving lines in the mountain, taking in the sights and experiencing all the area offers.

The Ridge Tahoe also offers transportation to and from the resort to the local casinos. Public transportation is also easily accessible from the resort if guests want to explore different winter activities.

Grab and Go
It’s essential to have the necessary sustenance to explore the numerous trails in Tahoe South, but sometimes a sit-down breakfast is not on the itinerary. Fortunately, there are quick and nutritious options for those that take pride in first chair. The Market Place offers guests of The Ridge Tahoe a complimentary cup of coffee and a daily newspaper, plus several portable food options. The Market Place is open 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, meaning individuals can grab and go before they’re at the lifts.

Gear Up
Nothing is worse than forgetting an essential clothing item or gear. In addition to snacks and other essentials, the Ridge Market Place offers winter clothing, including men’s and women’s jackets, and sunglasses. If a visitor left a snowboard or skis at home, the Resort Sports Ski & Snowboard Shop has everything a snow bunny could possibly want, like new equipment for every skill level, accessories, rentals and even discounted lift tickets to area resorts. The shop is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Ridge Resort Center.

hilltracskierexpress_06_email

Hop on board the on-site Hilltrac Skier Express for a quick ride to the mountain.

Take the Express Train

This self-operated eight passenger gondola type transport whisks skiers and snowboarders from the resort to Stagecoach in less than three minutes.

Après Ski
Of course a Tahoe ski trip is incomplete without après options! With new extended hours, The Bear Trap Lounge is open 3 to 9 p.m. daily with happy hour specials until 6 p.m. Stop in on Tuesdays for “Après Ski” specials and on Wednesdays for “Margarita Madness.”
