Warm Weather Weddings: 3 Ways to Beat the Heat

With the promise of a cloudless day, sun kissing your skin and just the slightest breeze, a warm weather wedding sounds like an absolute dream. At Lake Tahoe, warmer months are ideal times to get married with temperatures ranging from the 60s to 80s with little humidity. While there are tons of benefits to get married during the spring or summer in the Sierra Nevada, there are a few details to keep in mind to ensure your wedding is as flawless as possible.

#1 Protect Yourself!
Getting married in the Sierra means you’re just that much closer to the sun. At 7,600 elevation, the Ridge Tahoe is perfectly positioned above Lake Tahoe and the Carson Valley. However, with that elevation comes a greater chance of a sunburn. While temperatures may feel cool with a breeze at times, the sun is much hotter at elevation and you may find yourself a bit red at the end of the day. Fortunately, there’s an easy fix: sunscreen! Apply a sunscreen that does not provide a white cast in photos.

If you’d like to stay out of the sun altogether, the Ridge Tahoe also has an indoor ceremony site available. The Stagecoach View Room still affords you amazing views without the worry of a burn.

#2 Stay Refreshed
Consider creating a signature cocktail for a spring or summer wedding. Not only will this be refreshing if the wedding is held outside, but it will also show off the couple’s personalities. Fresh lemonade or even popsicles are a welcome sight during a warm weather wedding. Additionally, altitude can dehydrate individuals who are unaccustomed to the elevation so be sure to have plenty of non-alcoholic fluids on hand! Some Ridge Tahoe wedding packages include unlimited coffee, tea, and soda or lemonade and punch stations.

Of course, if you opt to have your wedding at our beachfront ceremony site at Round Hill Pines or Lakeside Beach, you can always refresh yourself with a dip in the lake!

#3 Create Functional Favors
If your wedding is set outside, such as in the Grand View Garden or the Elevation Deck 7500 at the Ridge, it tends to get warm in the sun. Make your wedding favors functional and fun by handing out sunglasses or fans branded with your wedding hashtag. Not only will these help your guests stay cool, they’ll also look cool and provide plenty of great photo opportunities.

The Ridge Reveals New Additions to Event Space

It’s hard to believe it’s possible, but the Ridge Tahoe is now even better with $2 million of investments to improve its event space.

The Ridge recently upgraded the event and conference areas by 2,300 feet for a total of 3,700 square feet on site for weddings, corporate events and retreats. Already a top venue for weddings and other special events in one of the leading destinations for both, the Ridge’s new Castle Rock Event Space stands apart from other venues in Tahoe South.New event space - wedding

The new space for weddings allows for more guests and more fun.

Careful planning went into the renovations of the event space with design and functionality in mind. With the latest additions, the event space can accommodate an additional 100 guests for your wedding and also includes two more rooms for meetings. Meetings and retreat spaces can now host 120 people. You’ll never have to worry about cramped event spaces when you book your special event in the Castle Rock Event Space.

The square footage isn’t the only thing that will impress you about the Castle Rock Event Space: the details in the architecture display acute care and vision for tying the indoors to the resort’s natural surroundings with wood décor, 16-foot high ceilings and large windows that flood the space with ambient light. Many of the materials used in the Castle Rock Event Space were recycled and repurposed, another important element of the Tahoe lifestyle and attitude where eco-consciousness and sustainability prevail. Lori Amus, a local designer, planned the new area with the outside in mind. The rustic elements complement the surrounding trees and offers a seamless transition from outside to in, perfect for setting the tone at your wedding.

Have your wedding at the Garden View Wedding before heading into the new event space for your reception.

Recognized as one of the top 20 mountain wedding venues in the country (Wedding Wire Magazine) and hosting approximately 130 weddings per year, the Ridge Tahoe is a popular choice for the betrothed. And it’s easy to understand why: every wedding includes a wedding coordination team that takes the pressure off the couple’s shoulders to ensure a seamless event including dining, dancing and more. The Castle Rock Event Space now accommodate up to 175 wedding guests. Create memories with the Ridge’s help. Packages are available.

Come see the additions for yourself.

Change Your Altitude and Attitude at Your Next Meeting

Is your office life stale? Is your team arguing and no longer working cohesively? If you’re finding it harder to concentrate and create quality projects, it may be time to change your attitude by changing your altitude and plan your next meeting at The Ridge Tahoe.

Forgo the cubicle in favor of breathtaking views at 7,500 elevation in the Ridge Tahoe Conference Center. There are a number of meeting spaces available to meet your needs whether you’re planning a retreat or a getaway for your employees. A meeting package can be arranged if you’re traveling from out of town.

Tahoe-B-edited

The change in altitude will be the first step to changing team disarray into group harmony; the next step is team building. Promoting teamwork and building camaraderie is the goal when planning a meeting and team building event. Not only will you improve communication and relationships among team members, but you’ll also create lasting fun memories that will carry you through difficult times.

Just like everything else in Tahoe South, the kind of team building offered may be a bit atypical from what you are used to…

For example, if you are team building in winter, you can go skiing with easy ski in/out access via our Skier Express. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing (with trails accessible at the resort), snowmobiling and horse drawn sleigh rides are a few other options for the adventurous.

teambuilding-photo2

Winter isn’t the only season that offers a number of active options for the group: go on a scavenger hunt around the resort (our tip is to pair up people who don’t know each other very well); bring out your competitive side with a game of ping pong or air hockey; mix up energy and improve the flow of a meeting with yoga and stretching.  Other activities include cruises on Lake Tahoe, golfing, ATV tours, tennis, basketball, mini golf, guided hikes, mountain biking and much more.

Regardless of the activities you choose, your team will be recharged and ready to head back to work to get down to business.

Your Conference Coordinator will determine the perfect tasks for your unique team. Contact Marlena Freitas at (775) 588-3553, extension 4622 or  mfreitas@ridge-resorts.com for more information.
